Habersham Mills is an adaptive reuse project in Clarkesville, Georgia located on the Soque River. The site was originally a cannon manufacturing mill during the civil war and then it was converted to the Habersham Iron Works and Manufacturing Company. Later, Habersham Mills was purchased by Russell Athletics and was in use until 1999.
Habersham Mills has been transformed into a mountain escape built for privacy and serenity. The indoor and outdoor spaces are subtle and respect the peaceful quality of the north Georgia mountains. There are also opportunities for guests to swim, have a campfire, and kayak.
The team for this project was SPG and Studio BNA architects. SPG provided engineering support for the project including a retrofitted septic system and storm water management.
