Design Associate / Architectural Historian

Mary Fenwick joined Smith Planning Group in 2019. An experienced consultant in historic preservation and specialist in cultural landscape preservation, Mary Fenwick enjoys bridging the gap between preservation and development. Her work experience reflects a broad skill set in design and scholarship. Her portfolio includes cultural landscape reports and inventories for cultural heritage sites and national parks for NPS Southeastern Regional Office, national register designation reports and surveys for municipalities like City of Greenville, SC and Athens, GA, historic structure reports for the rehabilitation of some of the oldest homes in Georgia, and a broad range of institutional, municipal, and private landscape architecture projects.

Mary Fenwick strives to merge her passion for cultural heritage and classical art with her passion to design landscapes and public spaces. In addition to her professional goals, Mary Fenwick pursued extensive training as a classical artist and continues to enjoy painting in her home studio. Prior to joining SPG, Mary Fenwick worked for distinguished firms in the Southeast including the Jaeger Company, Nimrod Long and Associates, and PageDuke Landscape Architects.
